Seven Wonders of Mother Nature

Hello again dear readers and a very good morning to you all. Hope you are having a wonderful day so far.

Christmas holidays are around the corner and people all over the world are gearing up to welcome the Christmas cheer in their lives. And with Christmas come holidays and people set out to see the world. How I wish I could do so too, but Mr. Covid 19 has thrown a wet towel on all such plans I guess.

On the topic of holidays and places to see around the world, I am sure all of us, at least once, must have thought about the possibility of visiting and seeing the Seven Wonders of the World. In my opinion, they are engineering marvels and a tribute to mankind’s intelligence, craftsmanship, skill, sense of beauty, capacity, capability……I could go on describing the magnificent qualities of human endeavor they immortalize.  I may have been fortunate enough to see four of the seven wonders and I can tell you, the experience was mind-blowing. I was simply awestruck by the sheer beauty of Taj Mahal and the magnificence of Christ the Redeemer and with the immense never-ending Great Wall of China. The Roman Colosseum however was a tad disappointing.

So like me I am sure most of us have had their mind set on visiting the Seven Wonders of the World or at least they must have flirted with the thought many a times. But of course, all have their own axes to grind in life and it may not be possible for many due to ‘n’ number of reasons.

And that brings me to giving a thought for the not-so-fortunate ones on our planet who do not even have the time to think about Christmas and holidays and seven wonders…..they are so occupied in their daily battle of life to fill their stomachs and bring two square meals to their families. They do not have the time, or the wherewithal to think about all these things in life, which for them may appear a distant dream, if at all they think.

Then what happens to them? Will they never ever be able to enjoy good old Christmas cheer? Will they never be able to visit the world and see the seven wonders? Isn’t life unfair if that is the case, where some are fortunate to experience all these things and where others cannot even afford to think about them?

I gave this a long and hard thought and felt tempted to blame Mother Nature for being so unfair. But then I have always believed that none is fairer and more equitable than Mother Nature. It gives and it takes – equally. Although the gifts of Mother Nature may be in different forms and different avatars, all receive equally in some form or the other.

That I am sure brings you to question me that how has Mother Nature done justice in this aspect? Well my dear friends, if we think hard, we do not have to go far and stress our mind – all of Mother Nature’s Seven Wonders are right here in front of us – given to all of us to enjoy. Yes my dear friends, you heard me right, Seven Wonders of Mother Nature are for all of us to partake and to enjoy. Well, I will not keep the suspense longer. For me, the seven wonders of Mother Nature are in the form of the ability to hear, the sense of touch, the sense of taste, the ability to feel, the ability to laugh and above all, the ability to love & be loved.

My dear readers, who could be more fortunate in this world than a person who has been blessed with these seven wonders of Mother Nature. These are the gifts of nature that make our lives worth living and all of us fortunate ones who have received these gifts must make it a point to thank God and Mother Nature for being so kind enough to bestow these gifts upon us and we all must learn to appreciate these to the fullest. If you really want to know the true worth of these gifts, ask those who have some of these gifts missing and you will realize the value of my words.

So let us thank God and Mother Nature for these wonderful gifts of our very own Seven Wonders of the World and let us enjoy them and cherish them in perpetuity.

Dr. Rajesh Mankani
