Act To Be Remembered After You Leave

Good morning my dear readers and I sincerely hope and pray that all of you and your family and friends are safe and protected from this mayhem which is spreading in our city due to the corona virus. I think the government should seriously consider imposing a lockdown before things go out of hand.

Anyways, a few days ago I told you all that I have started reading good thoughts and good quotes every morning to kick start my day with a positive influence. So too today I came across a very powerful and meaningful quote which I reproduce below.

Always have a successful exit than a favorable entrance, because, what matters is not being clapped when we arrive but being remembered when we leave……” – www.rishikajai.com

This thought really struck me. How true and powerful the words are and what a solid thought they convey to us. We are all concerned about being noticed on our arrival, whether be it our arrival at a party or our arrival in this world. We want people to applaud, people to greet us, people to wish us, people to recognize us. We crave for attention when we enter a place. It makes us feel important and socially desirable and to many, it may also give a psychological boost as well.

What we fail to realize and appreciate that our recognition or the attention which we get on our entrance is only short lived, until the next person comes into the room. Then all eyes turn towards that person and we are quickly deployed to the backseat of the memory counter. Our moment in the limelight is over before we know it and then we are relegated to the back.

But what really matters is what kind of impression we create while we are there among the people, that they keep remembering you and talking about you even after you have left the party. It is your actions, your behavior, your deeds that outlast you on your departure. These are things that make you immortal – they keep you fresh in the memories of people long after you are gone.

That is what is more important than the temporary recognition which we all crave on our arrival. So in life we must all act and do things and deeds which will leave an indelible mark behind us and which will make people remember and appreciate us long after we are gone. People come and go, but memories stay forever and with those memories, few people also stay in those memories forever.
